Starbuck man finds biological family, discovers a wealth of information about his family heritage. In 1969, at the Winnipeg General Hospital in Winnipeg, Canada, a happy, healthy baby boy named Darcy Lee Hunnie was born. Days later, the baby boy would receive a new name (Chad Krosch) and meet his new family. His new mom and dad were Janice and James Krosch of Butterfield, Minnesota, who traveled to Pembina, North Dakota, to adopt Chad and bring him back to Minnesota.

Promising signs of community growth

One of the most pressing needs of communities through rural Minnesota is affordable housing. It is a key to attracting new workers and residents. Last August, the City of Benson agreed to work with Cody Nelson of Nelson Properties of Sauk Centre for the construction of 13 duplexes, or 26 units in two phases, in the Cottage Square area to address Benson’s housing shortage. The first phase of Nelson’s housing project is underway in northeast Benson with construction of four duplexes to be completed by Dec. 31. The second phase involves nine townhomes, 18 units, all to be completed by Dec. 21, 2027. It is estimated the total cost of the completed project will be $3.795 million.

Starbuck Rallies Past NL-S, Breuer Leads Morris In A Rout

ATWATER – Morris racked up 14 hits, scoring early and often in a 14-4 defeat of ACGC in Junior Legion baseball from Atwater. Kaleb Breuer led the charge going 4-5 with two doubles, three RBI and two runs. Johnny Kleindl doubled and knocked in a pair while scoring once, Landen Gibson had two hits, and RBI and run scored, Riley Asmus and Rylan Larson each had two hits, Asmus scored three runs, Larson once. Jonah and Drew Huebner each added an RBI.

Allen Jeffrey Loen, 77, of Benson, Minnesota passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Benson, Saturday, July 9, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, following the service. A lunch will be held following the burial at the Allen and Diane Loen farm, 456 60th Street NE, Benson.

Nuest named next head coach for Owl girls basketball

Chad Nuest was approved as the next head coach for the Hancock girls basketball program that won the Class A State Championship this past winter. He takes over for Tony Thielke, who resigned after leading the Owls to a 30-1 record, a Pheasant Conference and Section 6A championship in 2022 while closing out his coaching career as Class A Girls Basketball Coach of the Year.

Nazarian granted bail and Conditional Release

Jessica Nazarian appeared before Judge Stephanie Beckman via zoom at a bail condition hearing on June 21. Nazarian has been in jail since being charged with three felony counts related to a stabbing at Divine House on February 13, 2022. Bail was initially set at $500,000 unconditional, and $250,000 conditional.
