SUBLETTE COUNTY – Big Piney never shirks when it comes to celebrating holidays and July 4 is especially important with the annual Chuckwagon Days coming into its 89th year. Big Piney staff updated Mayor Tyler Maxfield and town councilmembers Sherri Redden, Tawnya Miller, Stafford Polk IV and Sierra Banks on June 21.
BONDURANT – It was just like the good old days on Sunday afternoon, June 26, a perfect day to eat, listen to great music, visit with old friends and eat an excellent meal of slow-roasted beef, potato salad, cole slaw and sauerkraut, all made according to the original recipes.
PINEDALE – The Sublette County Unified Fire funding process has changed. Following discussions over the past year and an executive session earlier this month, the Board of Sublette County Commissioners voted 4-0 at its meeting June 21 to dissolve the fire mill levy and move all SCUF funding to the county’s general budget. Commission chair Joel Bousman abstained from the vote because he felt he didn’t understand the issue clearly enough.

SUBLETTE COUNTY – At the conclusion of four days of competition, 12-year-old Kandis Johnston of Pinedale was named Preteen Little Miss Wyoming. In addition to the crown she earned through the Little Miss Wyoming Scholarship Program, she won the overall talent award by showcasing her self-taught ukulele skills and received her division’s community service award.

WYOMING – Three local students participated at Girls’ State on the campus of Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne on June 4-11. Jaylee Bousman, Maddox Gehlhausen and Ally Moller all became delegates in the simulated local government before attendees were invited to meet government officials, community leaders, military members and others involved in the democratic process. The program creates fictional cities that students must run in accordance with Wyoming State Law.
Every Thursday afternoon, a gaggle of people set up tables on the shady, green Sublette County Courthouse lawn to offer passersby a chance to select from a truly diverse range of goodies. There are starter plants, locally grown beef, cookies, candies, candles, handcrafted pieces and one of a kind found at Pinedale’s High Altitude Farmers Market.
