At his April trial, La Salle County States Attorney Todd Martin said Fredres went looking for his ex-wife on March 16, 2021. Divers recover a driver from the Illinois River at Ottawa early Thursday. Police Chief Brent Roalson said, just before midnight, officers attempted a traffic stop at Norris and Canal. In so doing, though, the suspect drove away, going south on La Salle, across Veterans Bridge and entering Allen Park. Police witnessed the vehicle drive over a bank and into the river.

Authorities have released the identity of the person who drove a vehicle into the Illinois River in Ottawa in the small hours of Thursday morning. La Salle County Coroner Richard Ploch says the body of 20-year-old Tyler Carson of Ottawa was recovered by rescue workers in the early morning hours of Thursday. Events started when police tried to stop Carson's vehicle at Norris and Canal. Carson drove away, heading south on La Salle, across the Veterans Bridge and into Allen Park. Police then saw Carson drive the car over a bank and into the river. The subsequent search included multiple dive teams and sonar equipment from La Salle, Will and McLean counties. A forensic autopsy was conducted later in the day on Thursday. Those results are pending.

OTTAWA – Authorities have identified the body found in the Fox River in Ottawa on Tuesday. According to the Ottawa Police, they were called to the Fox River near the 100 block of E Jefferson St for a report of an individual floating in the river. The LaSalle County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 63-year-old Jeffrey M. Asbell Sr. of Ottawa. The incident remains under investigation by the Ottawa Police Department Detective Division and the LaSalle County Coroner’s Office.

Have you ever heard of Wally's? I hadn't until I started road tripping back to Chicago and stumbled upon Wally's in a cornfield off of Interstate 55 in Pontiac, Illinois. I was intrigued by the gas station/monument to consumerism but just kept on trucking since I figured I could go several more exits before having to fill up my tank. When I saw Only In Your State talking about Wally's off of Interstate 44 in Fenton, well I knew I had to learn a little bit more about it.
