Speak Easy Salon Hosting Grand Opening Party

An upcoming hair and beauty salon in Lakeville, PA, is hosting a grand opening party this Thursday, celebrating the future of The Speak Easy Salon. After two years, according to The Speak Easy Salon, they are raring and ready to go and open their doors. The grand opening party hosted on Thursday, June 30th, from 6 pm-8 pm in Lakeville, PA, will be all-inclusive. There will be complimentary appetizers and drinks for all but only gift bags for the first 100 guests. As the opening process has been arduous, the grand opening celebration serves as a way to give back to the customers they have kept waiting.

Carbondale gallery highlighting married artist in summer shows

An art gallery in Carbondale is keeping it close this summer with back-to-back shows featuring married artists. The Chamber Gallery, located in the foyer of The Greater Carbondale Chamber of Commerce Building at 27 N. Main Street, held an opening in late June for artist Dennis Corrigan. His show, called The Last and Only One Man Show — The Art of Dennis Corrigan,” will be on display through the end of July. An opening reception for Donna Corrigan’s art show will be held on Aug. 13. The couple reside in Waverly Twp.

'Call 9-1-1': Hawley Police response times called into question at council meeting

Police response times are being called into question in Hawley after a June Borough Council meeting. Will Wykoff, a resident of Keystone Street, expressed concerns to the council on June 8, over how to be able to reach the borough's part-time police department in an emergency. Council President Michele Rojas advised that the thing to do is to call 9-1-1, since the Wayne County Communications Center is aware of when the local police are on duty; when they are not, the PA State Police will be dispatched.

The Browndale Fire Co. will be holding a gun or cash raffle in August. The winning number will be the three-digit number of the first drawing of the evening lottery number. Each day will have the prize of either a shotgun, rifle, cross bow or inline and the winner has the choice of the firearm or a cash value as stated for that day on the winner’s ticket. Tickets are $25 each. Winners will be contacted by phone or mail. All firearms may be upgraded at winner’s expense.
