Facing down corruption at Dallas City Hall

There are few poisons as pernicious to democracy as corruption. It eats at public confidence and undermines our belief in fair and honest governance. Dallas’ city manager form of government has proved more resistant to the endemic corruption that has marked cities where the endless quid pro quos of ward politics are so rooted in government that indictments are treated almost as a cost of doing business.

Letters to the Editor — Immigration, skilled workers, redistricting, Dallas business leaders

Re: “Response to border surge is correct — Scenes are heartwrenching, but Biden is taking the right approach,” Wednesday Editorials. While I agree that the masses detained in Del Rio are heart-rending (not “heart-wrenching”), it’s simplistic to blame this crisis on President Joe Biden alone. Equally complicit are authorities in Mexico and other Latin countries, who are in charge of restricting free access across their own borders.
