The Gift Store at Southlake is closing for good after 20 years of service. A community staple since 2001, The Gift Store has offered a variety of products such as baby items, drinkware, needlepoint, kitchenware, pet paraphernalia, candles and more. Jeff and Jamie Baker purchased the business in 2016 and announced its closure over the weekend.

KDC announces plans to add 3 new office towers to Richardson's CityLine development

Three new office buildings are coming to CityLine in Richardson after developer KDC announced Sept. 21 plans to add 1.4 million square feet to the development. The buildings, called Five Cityline, Six Cityline and Seven Cityline, will include 18, 13 and 15 stories, respectively. They will join the 2.6 million square feet of office space and 200,000 square feet of restaurant, retail and entertainment space already present in the development, according to a KDC news release.

Flower Mound Council approves budget, lower tax rate

The Flower Mound Town Council on Monday voted unanimously to approve the town’s new budget and to reduce the property tax rate by 7.22%. The new tax rate of $0.405000 per $100 valuation, combined with an increased homestead exemption (from 2.5% to 5%) that council approved earlier this year, will help Flower Mound homeowners during a time of increasing property values.

Plano has 12 of the fastest-growing middle market companies in North Texas, according to an annual Dallas Business Journal ranking. Frisco-based natural gas producer Comstock Resources was No. 1 on the 2021 Middle Market 50, the business news publication announced last week. It defines the middle market as companies with annual revenue between $10 million and $1 billion.

ThredUp to open Dallas facility that will add 2,000 local jobs

ThredUp Inc. said Tuesday that it will open a 600,000-square-foot distribution center in Lancaster, Tex. that will create 2,000 jobs. The four-level facility will house 10 million items, more than doubling the number of items in its network, bringing the total to 16.5 million items. ThredUp is an online resale business, an area of retail that has made gains as consumers, especially young ones, turn to more eco-friendly lifestyles. ThredUp also offers brand names at lower prices. ThredUp has partnered with brands like Madewell to offer resale services. The new facility is expected to open in the second quarter of 2022 with an initial capacity of 500,000 items. ThredUp stock began trading in March. The stock has dropped 22% over the past three months while the S&P 500 index has gained 3.6% for the period.

ARLINGTON AND PLANO, TEXAS — JLL has negotiated the sale of The Orchards at Arlington Heights and The Orchards at Market Plaza, two active adult communities In the Dallas area totaling 360 units. The second community is located in Plano. The age-restricted properties offer amenities such as clubhouses, pools, movie theaters, game rooms, salons, fitness centers, gift-wrapping stations and activity rooms. Cody Tremper and Mike Garbers of JLL represented the seller, Kompass Kapital Management LLC, in the transaction. The buyer was Capitol Seniors Housing.

The property features studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans, as well as townhomes. Each residence is furnished with stainless steel appliances, granite countertops and custom cabinetry. Amenities include a pool with cabanas, fitness center, pet washing facility, resident lounge with a coffee bar and coworking space with private offices and a conference room. Rents start at approximately $1,500 per month for a studio apartment.
