Body of Schertz man recovered from Canyon Lake

The body of a 26-year-old man from Schertz has been recovered from Canyon Lake after he died in an apparent drowning, according to the Comal County Sheriff’s Office. Celestin Mc-angy was discovered 47 feet below the surface of Canyon Lake by members of the South Hays Fire Department dive team around 11 p.m. Sunday, police said. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Tom Clark.

Second Arrest Made In Austin Shootings

Austin police have made a second arrest in a weekend shooting that killed a man and left more than a dozen more people wounded when gunfire erupted in a busy, downtown Austin entertainment district. A 17-year-old boy was arrested at Harker Heights High School. Austin police are working closely with the Killeen ISD and its police department in the investigation.

WASHINGTON — Austin Mayor Steve Adler and four other mayors from across the U.S. are urging national leaders to take steps toward gun violence prevention. Adler, along with Nan Whaley, mayor of Dayton, Ohio; Chicago Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot; Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner; and Van Johnson II, mayor of Savannah, Georgia; will convene a virtual press conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss the "alarming rise in gun violence across the country," according to a press release from the United States Conference of Mayors.

Action days are declared when the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to reach levels where the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups as higher levels of ozone are possible. Groups with sensitive respiratory issues should limit outdoor time.
