Beaumont Police investigating fatal crash of Lumberton woman

BEAUMONT — Madison "Madi" Hope Thibodeau, 23, of Lumberton, died in a traffic accident Sunday, August 7, 2022. A severe traffic collision involving one vehicle occurred near Cardinal Drive and Highway 347 in Beaumont, according to Beaumont police. Officers arrived to find a two-door Jeep engulfed in flames in the grass.

Lumberton resident dies in fiery crash on south side of Beaumont

Funeral services will be held this weekend in Silsbee for a young Lumberton woman who died in a fiery weekend crash in Beaumont. Beaumont Police say 23-year-old Madison Hope Thibodeau was a passenger in a Jeep that was found wrecked and completely engulfed in flames on Sunday at the Highway 69/347 split in far southeast Beaumont.

Video captures English wind turbine catching fire, melting to pieces

Another wind turbine caught fire this summer, but this time it happened across the pond. Video shows the wind turbine on fire while a large plume of black smoke fills the sky in Hull, England. Residents watched as parts of the wind turbine melted, and pieces fell from the massive structure.  Firefighters were soon able to extinguish the fire, and crews say they received nearly 200 calls about the turbine fire. It is unknown at this time what caused the fire. Just two weeks ago, lightning struck a wind turbine in North Texas, setting it ablaze.  Videos from witnesses and firefighters showed the wind turbine generator ablaze and disintegrated in the sky over Crowell, Texas.

Dayton woman dies in Midland wreck

A 55-year-old woman from Dayton, Texas, was killed in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night outside Midland. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Diana Dee Markham was traveling west on West County Road 127 when her GMC Canyon veered off the road to the right around 6:30 p.m. She over-corrected to the left and the vehicle skidded into a telephone pole and fence.

Traffic accident near courthouse

Around 9:30 am Friday; a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Main and Sam Houston streets in Liberty near the courthouse. According to Liberty PD Lt. Chip Fairchild, a Nissan truck was traveling northbound on Main when it ran the red light before striking a Nissan passenger car going eastbound on Sam Houston.

Fire destroys home in Raywood

Firefighters from three Liberty County departments were called to a house fire on FM 770 South in Raywood around noon Tuesday, July 19.
