Two Carmi Women Arrested On White County Warrants

The Carmi Police Department has arrested two Carmi women on White County warrants. On Thursday an officer with the CPD went to 412 Oak Street and arrested 35 Jennifer R Parkhurst on a warrant for Battery. The amount of the bond on the warrant was set at $250. Parkhurst paid bond and was released.

Break-In And Burglary Reported In Norris City

A report of break-in and burglary has been made to the White County Sheriff’s Department. On Wednesday morning, Officer George Spencer responded to 452 County Road 60o N in Norris City and met with Michial Phillips who advised Spencer that someone had cut a lock off of his front porch door and entered his residence. Phillips said that on June 28th between the hours of 3:00 and 10:00 PM, someone broke into his home and stole 100 10 mg Hydrocodone. There were also items thrown around inside the residence. Phillips said that he located a glove in his driveway that does not belong to him. Spencer photographed the damage lock piece near the door as well as the pry marks on the door frame, and collected the glove to put in evidence. Phillips stated that he wanted to file a report about the incident. Spencer told Phillips it would be placed on file at the WCSD. The officer also told Phillips he would be contacted if any further information became available.

Trahan Arrested On White County Warrant

A Carmi man is in custody following his arrest on a White County warrant Friday morning. Deputy Capeheart, with the White County Sheriff’s Department went to 702 Summit Street to serve the warrant on 19 year old James D Trahan. Trahan was wanted for unlawful possession of another’s debit card. He was taken into custody and transported to the White County Jail. Trahan is being held on a $1500 cash bond.

Townsend Arrested On Warrant For Battery And Criminal Damage To Property

A Carmi man was arrested on a White County warrant following a phone call to the White County Sheriff’s Department from the White County Probation Office. On Thursday Officer George Spencer and an officer with the Carmi Police Department arrested 48 year old Jason D Townsend. Upon arrival at the Probation Office, the officers met with Townsend and advised him of the warrant for Battery and Criminal Damage to Property then escorted him to the White County Jail. Townsend was processed for the appropriate charges and is being held pending posting of bond. Bond was set at $250.

Ronald James Kreamalmeyer of West Frankfort, IL died Sunday at the age of 62. The funeral service will be 1:00 Tuesday at Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville. Visitation for Ronald Kreamalmeyer will be 11:00 until time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Wildcats Varsity Baseball Drops Pair To Mt Vernon

The Salem Wildcats dropped a pair of summer baseball games to Mt Vernon at SCHS Field last night. Salem fell in the opener 4-2. Mt Vernon scored 3 runs in the opening inning, but after starter Gavin Zimmermann had to leave with an injury; Drew Davis worked the next 5.1 innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 run. At the plate, Kam Wilkins doubled going 2-3, Davis drove in a run with a single and run from Aden Susmena, Josh Powless also had a hit.

Boil Order Issued In Carmi

Newman Arrested on Warrant

A Carmi man is being held in the White County Jail following his arrest. While on patrol on the afternoon of June 27th, Deputy Nick Capeheart with the White County Sheriff’s Department observed 35 year old Joshua L Newman riding a bike on Fifth Street traveling North toward Sycamore Street. Capeheart knew that there was an arrest warrant out for Newman’s arrest due to recent findings on search warrant. Capeheart turned around his patrol vehicle to make contact with Newman but took off on the bike he was riding. Capeheart says he lost sight of the vehicle but when he got to the intersection of Fifth and Sycamore, he saw the bike lying on the ground. As Capeheart began to search for an officer with the Carmi Police Department observed Newman standing in front of a residence on Sixth Street talking with a group of people. The Officer with the CPD then placed Newman under arrest. When asked why he ran Newman said “I knew you were coming for me”. Newman was transported to the White County Jail where is being held on a $7500 cash bond.

2022 07/09 – Jackie Dean Dent

Jackie Dean Dent, 89, of Nason, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 4:40 pm June 30, 2022, at home with his family by his side. He was born November 28, 1932, in Marion, Illinois to the late William and Alice (Gower) Dent. Jack married Margie (Hester) Dent on December 31, 1954, in Mount Vernon, Illinois. They were married just over 65 wonderful years before her passing on March 24, 2020.

Joan Marie (Tiemann) Pritchard

Joan Marie (Tiemann) Pritchard, 81, of Norris City, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on November 10, 1940, the daughter of Loren Frederick and Helen Marie (Runau) Tiemann. Joan married Frank G. Pritchard on July 11, 1959, and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2010. She was a farmer and enjoyed gardening, photography, working puzzles, shopping, enjoyed being around animals, and was a member of the Norris First Southern Baptist Church.

Jack is survived by his children, Jackie Dent of Nason, David Dent of Nason, Bill Dent and wife, Paula of John’s Island, South Carolina, Darryl Dent of Indiana, and Ginger Dent and significant other, Domnick Wheatley of Scheller; grandchildren, Spencer Dent and wife, Sarah of New Point, Indiana, Tyler Dent and wife, Rilie of Beechgrove, Indiana, Amber Wright and husband, Kenny of Columbus, Ohio, Sara Dent and significant other, Jordan Wehrheim of Nason, Chris Williams of Nason, Jazzmine Dent of Nason, Jacob West and significant other, Alyssa Bonstell of Nason, and Danielle Droste of Nashville, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Ryker, Kayden, Kayson, Karson, Julia, Hayden, Sadie, and one more due in November; sister, Sue Jones of Bonnie, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Michelle Sigwerth of Ina, Illinois, Marcella Dent of Bonnie, Illinois, Janet Dent of Nason, Shirley Stebbins of Mount Vernon, and Carolyn Dubois of Mount Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Jack was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Greg West; siblings, Earl Dent, Fred Dent, Lester Bob Dent, Wanda Lee Reynolds, and Leon Dent; and parents-in-law, Lester and Lela Williams. Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the owner and operator of Dent’s Pickery for 40 years. He also worked at General Radiators. Jack was the mayor of Nason for 25 years. Alongside his wife, Jack was a 4H Leader for many years. He was also a member of the Waltonville VFW. Jack loved to fish, but most of all, he cherished the time shared with family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and adored him. The Dent family would like to extend a special “thank you” to Jack’s caregivers: Dr. Cheryl Emmons, Carolyn Dubois, Lisa Linn, Kim Galiher-Sledge, Sara Dent, and Jacob West.

Deaths of Sesser couple under investigation

SESSER, Ill. (WJPF) Police in Sesser are investigating the deaths of an elderly couple. Just after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to the South Locust Street home of James and Phyllis Miller after a call was made from the home to 9-1-1, but no one was on the other end of the line.

Stolen Wallet Reported in Norris City

A Norris City woman called the White County Sheriff’s Department to report the theft of her wallet. On June 25th, Deputy spoke with Adrienne Johnson who stated that she attended a ballgame in Norris City on June 22nd and had left her wallet in the center console of her vehicle. Johnson said that she left her car unlocked but she was sitting only 40 feet away watching the game. Johnson stated that on the morning of the 23rd, she had noticed that her wallet was gone. She said there was no money in the wallet but there was a credit card along with her driver’s license in it. Johnson called to cancel the credit card but wanted to make the report due to concerns about identity theft due to her ID being taken.

Campbell Charged with Domestic Battery

A call to request law enforcement assistance was made to the White County Sheriff’s Department in regards to an active domestic in progress at 1352 County Road 1175 in Carmi. Deputy Capeheart responded to the call and observed an officer with the Carmi Police Department was on scene as well. The officer with the CPD was speaking with 70 year old Carolyn Campbell and 26 year old Carrie Campbell gathering statements concerning 30 year old Jonathan M Campbell who had left the scene and went into a corn field west of the residence. Carolyn Campbell, Johnathan’s mother, stated that Johnathan had come home at daybreak very intoxicated and began throwing objects in the kitchen as well as opening and slamming the refrigerator doors causing the shelves of the door to break and items to fall out. Carolyn said that Carrie Campbell, Johnathan’s sister, then came from her bedroom and tried to calm Johnathan down. Carrie told the officers that her brother continued to scream at them and throw in the kitchen. During the rant, Johnathan hit Carrie with an unknown item, then left the residence on foot. Carolyn and Carrie both signed complaints for Domestic Battery. Johnathan was located and taken into custody. Bond was set at $500 cash. He paid bond and was released. A court date has been set for July 26th at 9:30 AM.

Bartley Charged with Driving While License Suspended

While on patrol in Carmi, Deputy Capeheart with the White County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop that ended with the arrest of 44 year old Michelle Bartley of 711 Marguerite Street. On June 26th at around 1:35 PM, Capeheart observed a red Chevy van stopping at a stop sign at the intersection of Stewart and Burrell Street that had only one working tail light which was on the right side of the vehicle. While behind the vehicle, the Deputy stated that the left brake quick working as well. Capeheart then initiated a traffic stop and informed Bartley that the brake lights weren’t properly working, in which Bartley said she knew that they sometimes don’t work properly. At that time a male passenger got out of the vehicle, and hit the brake light and it came back on. Capeheart then ran Bartley’s information through dispatch and was informed that her driver’s license had been suspended. After informing Bartley of the suspended license, she was placed under arrest. Bartley was then transported to the White County Jail where bond was set at $250. She paid bond and was released. The vehicle was towed by Don’s Bumper to Bumper. A court date for Bartley has been set for August 2nd at 9:00 AM.
