Multiple Residents Report Bear Sighting In Simi Valley Neighborhood

SIMI VALLEY (CBSLA) — Authorities say they have received multiple reports of a bear sighting in Simi Valley, though the bear has not posed a direct threat. The sighting was reported in the Big Sky Community at Erringer Road and Lost Canyon Drive. It was there that residents called to report a black bear roaming the neighborhood. Police said that Fish and Game have been notified and were monitoring the situation. Residents were advised to proceed with caution and keep an eye on small children and pets.

VENICE (CBSLA) – Cellphone video shows an all-out brawl between what appears to be at least three homeless men Wednesday on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. In the video, posted to Twitter, a man with a large pole can be seen charging another man who is exchanging punches with a third man. A brush fire in the Gorman area was 55% contained Sunday after burning 340 acres. The fire was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the 36000 block of Quail Canyon Road, near Hungry Valley State Vehicle Recreation Park, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A man was killed and a woman injured in South Los Angeles on Thursday evening in a pair of shootings that might have been related, authorities said. At 5:45 p.m., deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s South Los Angeles station responded to a report of a shooting in a strip mall at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Imperial Highway, Lt.
