MINDEN, La. -- One of three men injured in May in an explosion in Cotton Valley has died. Chancey Hawk, 38, of Minden died Thursday. His funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at City on the Hill in Minden. Burial will follow at King Solomon Baptist Church in Sibley.

The discharge of fireworks in Magnolia is legal between the hours of 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. from June 20 to July 10. The legal fireworks use time is extended to midnight on July 4.

(KSLA) - Five men were severely injured during two separate explosions: one at Barksdale Air Force Base and one at a business in Cotton Valley. The gas well explosion at BAFB happened back on April 19. During that incident, Adam Purland and Clay Moock were seriously burned. Hundreds in the community came together to donate blood to the two men, who were initially listed in critical condition. As of June 30, an official with Ochsner LSU says the two men remain in critical condition.

MINDEN, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Minden police say a woman was arrested Monday and charged with the death of her baby from a fentanyl overdose in May. Stephanie Lowery is charged with negligent homicide in the death of her baby on May 29. Officials say the autopsy report showed too much fentanyl in the child’s system to come from the mother’s milk alone. They believe it may have been given to the baby intentionally.

MINDEN, La. -- A Minden woman has been arrested and charges are pending on a second person in the death of a baby. Stephanie N. Lowery, 26, of the 100 block of Pine Street, was taken into custody Monday and charged with negligent homicide. The autopsy report shows her child died from fentanyl intoxication.
