George Castro, 74, of Batesville died May 10, 2022, at his residence. He was born in Lansing, Michigan, on May 11, 1947, to Dolores Sepulveda and Asencion Castro. He is survived by his wife, Antonia Castro of La Pryor; five sons, George Castro Jr. and wife, Lupe, of Kyle, Juan Jesus Castro, Eloy Castro, Roberto Castro and companion, Gabriela Gonzalez, and Alberto Castro all of La Pryor; five daughters, Patricia Tapia and husband, Rogelio, Enedelia Castro, Susana Rodriguez and husband. Angel Jr., of La Pryor, Gloria Castro of San Marcos, and Dolores Castro and companion, Johnny Mata, of Odessa; three brothers, Arturo Castro, Juan Castro, and Jose Castro, all of Crystal City; four sisters, Florinda Castro, Maria Castro, Margarita Elizondo, and Marisela Belmares, all of Crystal City; 34 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.

Texas Border Patrol agents arrest two sex offenders who illegally entered US from Mexico
Border Patrol agents in Texas arrested two convicted sex offenders after they illegally entered the U.S. from Mexico earlier this week. Agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector apprehended a group of nine subjects shortly before 5 a.m. on Monday. The subjects were subsequently transported to Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station for processing.

Del Rio Sector Border Patrol Agents Arrest Two Sex Offenders
DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector arrested two convicted sex offenders shortly after they illegally entered the United States. On May 9, at 4:59 a.m., Carrizo Springs agents apprehended a group of nine subjects. They were transported to the Carrizo Springs Border Patrol Station for processing. During processing, record checks revealed that one subject, a Mexican national, Oscar Garcia-Solorzano, 28, was previously convicted of aggravated sexual assault of a child in Austin in 2016 and sentenced to two years confinement, He was subsequently deported in 2018.

NLRB to certify first unionized climbing gym at Movement Crystal City
Workers at Movement in Crystal City are one step closer to becoming the first unionized rock climbing gym in the US. Workers voted for a union in November 2021, but Movement filed objections, claiming that organizers interfered with the fairness of the election. After the National Labor Relations Board overturned all three charges, the company declined to appeal the ruling, and the NLRB will certify the vote. "We're excited to give the workers at Crystal City a seat at the table,” said organizer Sylvain La.
