Power REIT Acquires 10-Acre Property in Crowley County for Greenhouse Development

Power REIT, a real-estate investment trust (REIT) that owns real estate related to Controlled Environment Agriculture, has acquired a 10-acre property in Crowley County, through a wholly owned subsidiary (“PropCo”). The property will include the construction of a 12,000-square-foot greenhouse space and 12,880 square feet of support buildings and infrastructure that will be funded by Power REIT for a total capital commitment of approximately $2.9 million.

Here's where Arkansas Valley track and field athletes stand for state heading into the final week

Several local high school track and field athletes are in a position to qualify for their respective state meets entering the final week of the regular season. The top 18 in each event at the end of the regular season in Classes 5A, 4A, 3A and 2A will punch their ticket to state. In Class 1A, the top 9 in sprints and sprint relays, the top 10 in field events and the top 12 in distances and the 4x800-meter relay will advance to state.

Private prisons are vital to Bent and Crowley County communities

As the newly elected senator for District 35, which includes Bent and Crowley counties, I am pleased that our local paper has taken an interest in the No. 1 employer of both counties, the private prison correctional facilities that our communities worked hard to secure in collaboration with the state of Colorado 30 years ago. Active engagement by the community with the state delivered these assets to both the community and the state of Colorado. The correctional facilities provide a necessary service to our state, offer employment opportunities to our citizens and provide reliable tax revenue to our communities.

Several local individual high school track and field athletes are in the MaxPreps rankings following the second week of competition. In Classes 2A-5A, the top 18 individuals at the end of the season qualify for their respective state tournaments. In Class 1A, the top nine sprinters and relay teams, and the top 12 distance runners and field events will got to state.
