Marathon, one of the US mining companies, was affected by the rains. Most of the equipment is turned off and it is estimated that it will be turned on next week. Bitcoin mining is not immune to nature. A storm shut down a mining farm of the Marathon company, in the United States, made up of at least 30 thousand Bitcoin miners. Most of them were inoperative due to lack of electricity.

Marathon (MARA) Stock Plunges as Montana Storm Knocks Miners Offline

This move comes on news of a power outage at a key mining facility in Montana. Today, investors in Marathon Digital (NASDAQ:MARA) stock are seeing another impressive decline. From peak to trough yesterday, MARA declined more than 10% on an update from the company’s Montana-based Bitcoin (BTC-USD) mining operations. Now shares are down another 10% as investors continue to digest the news.

75% of Marathon mining fleet still offline two weeks after huge storm

Bitcoin mining firm Marathon Digital Holdings has revealed that 75% of its mining capacity has been down since a severe storm hit Montana on June 11. Marathon eventually released a statement on its website on June 28 explaining that the storm hit the town of Hardin, Montana on June 11, damaging the power plant that powers Marathon’s local mining operations. According to the company, “initial electrical tests revealed that the majority of the company’s miners were not materially damaged by the storm.”
