Three Charged in Vidalia Jr High Vandalism

There are now burglary and vandalism charges against three juveniles accused of doing potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to Vidalia Junior High School in a weekend vandalism spree at the building. Cameras, computers, printers, projectors, and other electronics were damaged or destroyed, along with broken windows and other damage to the building itself. Law enforcement says the trio impacted every room in the building, and several small items were taken as well although those have since been returned. The three were spotted on security cameras. As a result of the damage, the school’s Summer Bridge program is canceled for a second straight day today.

Slowly but surely: Refuge opens roads as river recedes

SIBLEY — St. Catherine Creek National Wildlife Refuge Manager Skye Kreisler said the Mississippi River is slowly falling. Little by little, the refuge is opening up. First Baptist Church of Natchez to break ground on new student center

NATCHEZ — First Baptist Church of Natchez will break ground on its new student center at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. FBC Natchez announced the center in a sermon on June 20, 2021. The new student center is to help promote thstudent ministry and provide more space for classes and fellowship. Interim Student Pastor Matt Martin said the center will be 5,000 to 6,000 square feet and will include classrooms, a worship area, a stove and refrigerator and a lounge where students can hang out. They plan to have video game systems in the lounge area.

Over the past few days, I have been asked for my thoughts on what some are calling a pending national recession. Certainly, to see inflation soaring to above 8 percent for the first time in many years is concerning. On top of that, paying $5 per gallon at the pump does not bode well for anyone.
