​The Valentine Volunteer Fire Department was called out about 7 pm Wednesday evening, jUNE 29, 2022, to a report of a dumpster fire in front of the Dollar General Store on East Highway 20 in Valentine. The dumpster was a large roll off full of construction material during a remodel of the retail store. Fire Chief Terry Engles told KVSH news that it is believed the fire started from discarded smoking materials. What made the fire more serious was the proximity of the propane bottles located in front of the store. Crews were on the scene about 30 minutes.

On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Elizabeth Ann Green, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away at the age of 79. Elizabeth was a New Years baby; born January 1st, 1943, in Valentine, Nebraska then raised on a cattle farm. On March 3rd, 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Harold Duane Green. They raised their son Anthony Duane Green together. She received her bachelor 's degree in business from the University of Nebraska. After moving to Flagstaff, AZ, she co-founded IMPRA in the early 70 's and retired in 1994 in Phoenix, AZ.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Floyd Black Spotted Horse, Jr., age 35, was indicted on June 14, on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Black Spotted Horse of Rosebud, pleaded not guilty to the charge on June 21, according to the Department of Justice in South Dakota.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Jaret Wooden Knife, 24, of Mission was sentenced on June 21 on sexual abuse of minor charges. Wooden Knife was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and a special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund in the amount of $100, according to the Department of Justice in South Dakota.
