Celebrating Freedom

Blackstone’s 2nd Annual Juneteenth celebration this past Saturday, June 25th, drew visitors near and far to downtown. Festival goers enjoyed live music, food, a wide variety of items for sale, speakers, and fellowship. Blackstone holds its festival the last day of June to avoid conflicting with other celebrations the previous week. This photo was taken shortly after 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The Juneteenth Committee is planning a two-week carnival in August on the grounds of the Harris Memorial Armory. Town Council gave tentative approval Monday.
