Lancaster County men facing felony counts, in Beatrice house shooting

BEATRICE – A Firth man charged in an incident where shots were fired into a Beatrice home, faces further hearing September 8th, in Gage County Court. 18-year-old Colten Anderson is charged with discharging a firearm near a vehicle or building, and use of a firearm to commit a felony. The charges, upon conviction, carry possible sentences of up to 50 years in prison, with a mandatory five-year minimum on each count. Anderson was excused from attending Thursday’s hearing.

LSO Arrest Man Accused Of Shooting At Stop Signs

The Lancaster County Sheriff says a 52 year old Firth man was arrested around 11:30 Wednesday night after firing several rounds at a stop sign near 54th and Stagecoach Road. Terry Wagner says two men were sitting in a truck near the intersection at the time. “They heard gunshots in the area and they heard 12-15 bullets whiz by.”

Town of Western man accused of harassment, criminal mischief in physical altercation, deputies say

WESTERN- An abandoned call to 9-1-1 dispatchers has led to the arrest and charges filed against a local man in the wake of an altercation this week, authorities say. Paul Calderon, 30, from the town of Western, NY is officially charged by the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office with one misdemeanor count of criminal mischief in the fourth-degree and one violation of harassment.

A Lincoln woman is being held on $500,000 bail after being charged with motor vehicle homicide in connection with a crash that led to the death of a Greenwood woman. Cheyanne M. Baker, 31, is accused of causing the death of Tammy Callaway, 42, on July 27 near the intersection of U.S. 6 and Greenwood Drive. Baker appeared before a Cass County judge Monday and must pay 10% of the bail amount, or $50,000, to be released from jail.

Former Florida Gators forward Keyontae Johnson is visiting the Nebraska Cornhuskers on August 17, according to On3’s Joe Tipton. Johnson’s final four schools are Nebraska, Western Kentucky, Kansas State, and Memphis per Tipton. Johnson was a First-Team All-Sec selection in 2020, as he averaged 14.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while shooting 54.4% from the field. Johnson got off to a hot start in 2021. Across four games, he averaged 16.0 points per game while shooting 64.1% from the field and 42.9% from three. Unfortunately, he collapsed on the court on December 12, 2020, against Florida State. He was subsequently hospitalized and placed in a medically induced coma. He entered the transfer portal on May 1, 2022.
