BSG police killing suspect competent to stand trial

WISE — The man accused of killing Big Stone Gap police officer Michael Chandler has been declared competent to stand trial. Wise County Circuit Court Judge Ron Elkins made the ruling Tuesday during a video hearing with 33-year old Michael Donivan White, according to Wise County and Norton Commonwealth’s Attorney spokesperson Jessica Hood.

3 killed in Interstate 81 crash in Washington County, Virginia, police say

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. (WCYB) — Update: Three people were killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Washington County, Virginia, Tuesday, according to Virginia State Police. Police said a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee was going south on Interstate 81 when it ran off the left side of the interstate into the median. The vehicle then crossed through the median, struck the guardrail, flipped onto its side and came to rest in a northbound lane of I-81, according to police.

Kickoff Times Set for Three UNC Games in 2022

The kickoff times for North Carolina's first three football games of the 2022 season have been set, the league announced on Thursday. The Tar Heels will take on Florida A&M on Saturday, Aug. 27 (week zero) in Chapel Hill at 8 p.m. on the ACC Network. Then on Saturday, Sept. 3 of Labor Day weekend, UNC will head west to Boone, N.C. to take on Appalachian State in a noon kickoff. All considering, the matchup between the Tar Heels and the Mountaineers expected to be one of the biggest home games in App State football history. The game will air on ESPNU.
