Discount retailer opening in Cumru wants to hire 50 workers

CUMRU TWP., Pa. — A discount retailer planning to open in the former Kmart in the Shillington Plaza is looking to hire 50 workers. Ocean State Job Lot, a Rhode Island-based chain, is transforming 46,836 square feet of the 92,177-square-foot former Kmart into a "big, bright shopping experience," the retailer has said.

A Michigan man is locked up in Schuylkill County Prison after stealing a car and leading police in a short pursuit on Interstate 81 this past weekend. According to the Pennsylvania State Police at Schuylkill Haven, on Sunday, June 26th, 2022, just after 7:00am, Troopers received a report of a stolen Ford F-150 from the AMBest Truck Stop on Molleystown Road in Tremont Township, just off the Ravine Exit of Interstate 81.

A Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in Lancaster will reopen on Friday, July 1, while another one in Ashland, Schuylkill County, will close temporarily on Monday, July 4. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board said the Fine Wine & Good Spirits at 252 N. Queen St., Lancaster, will reopen for business at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 1.
