PLUMAS COUNTY, Calif. - Caltrans has reopened Highway 70 under one-way traffic control fourteen days after a series of mudslides blocked parts of the highway. Caltrans has a mile-long segment of Highway 70 under one-way traffic control, starting at three miles west of Belden and continues to two miles west of Belden.

Mud and debris near a Dixie Fire burn scar had blocked the highway for most of the month.

When the dust settled on the 2022 Reno Rodeo, there were some very happy rodeo contestants heading out of town. The rodeo marks the start of the busy summer rodeo season and winning here gives contestants momentum as they head into “Cowboy Christmas,” which includes all of the rodeos held over the Fourth-of-July holiday. Unfortunately, Feather River College alumni Wyatt Denny didn’t have a qualifying ride in the short go, but Clayton Biglow had the second-best ride of the night to end in 5th place in the average.

The June Ace of Aces Qualifier was played on a warm Thursday, June 23, with 19 players competing. The low gross and low net winners to qualify over the field compete in the end-of-season Ace of Aces Playoff in October. A player needs to qualify only once each season. June’s Qualifiers were: Low Gross, Sharon Russell, with a score of 84; and, Low Net, Renee Miller and Alaine Flynn, both with net scores of 68.
