Dale Richardson is a son of James, whose home was in Honaker, Virginia, and Christine Richardson from Monticello, Kentucky. Dale’s Grandpa Paul Richardson and Grandpa Herman Miller came to Bucyrus looking for work. Their lives as coal miners were difficult and only paid $4 a day. James and Christine were both young when their families moved here.

BUCRYUS — Two local men were killed and a woman was injured after two Harley-Davidson motorcycles collided Sunday afternoon on Leesville Road just west of Ohio 598. According to the Crawford County Sheriff's Office, Gary Sprague, 54, of Bucyrus, was traveling west on Leesville Road with passenger Rachel Crawford, 45, of Sandusky, on his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle at 1:36 p.m. when Sprague failed to negotiate a curve and went into the eastbound lane and struck Timothy McDaniel, 57, of Galion, who was traveling east on his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Two killed in motorcyle crash

CRAWFORD COUNTY- On August 7, 2022 at 1:36 p.m., Crawford County Sheriff Office along with Jefferson TWP Fire and EMS responded to a two-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred on Leesville Road west of State Route 598. It was determined that Gary Sprague, of Bucyrus, was traveling westbound on Leesville Rd. with passenger Rachel Crawford, of Sandusky, on his 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Sprague failed to negotiate a curve, and went into the eastbound lane of travel and struck Timothy McDaniel, of Galion, who was traveling eastbound on Leesville Rd. on his 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Sprague and McDaniel were pronounced deceased at the scene by Crawford County Coroner. Crawford was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield with non-life threatening injuries. The crash still remains under investigation.

State brownfield grant will be used to demolish former school building in Galion

GALION — A $778,000 Brownfield Remediation Program grant from the Ohio Department of Development will pay for demolition of a former school building in Galion. The grant, which will be used to demolish the former Galion East School, 127 E. North St., was awarded to the Crawford County Land Reutilization Corporation, also known as the Crawford County Land Bank, and announced in late July. The Land Bank will partner with the Carter family, which owns the property, and engineering firm Burgess & Niple to demolish the former school, which closed in 1980.
