NDTC is excited to announce and welcome the addition of a new employee, Roger Wentz. Wentz began employment on June 13th as a Customer Service Representative. Roger joins NDTC with over 16 years of experience. His previous positions at OtterTail Power Company and MetroPlains Management will provide valuable skills that he will be able to use in his position at NDTC. He received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in HVAC/R Technology at North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.

The Lake Region Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, Oceans of Possibilities, is almost finished!. Beginning on June 6, participants were encouraged to track their reading times and/or titles to redeem for prizes at the end of the program. The Devils Lake Elks Lodge #1216 presented Americanism Essay Contest awards at the annual Flag Day Ceremony, June 14th at Roosevelt Park. Area middle school students in grades 5th through 8th participated in the contest, this winter. The essay contest is open to all youth in grades 5th through 8th in the region. Students are encouraged to write an essay of no more than 300 words. This year’s topic: “What Does It Mean To Love Your Country.”

The Devils Lake Water Improvement District is pleased to announce that Devils Lake has been selected by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to participate in their National Lakes Assessment. Starting in Summer 2022, district staff will work collaboratively with the EPA to take measurements of the lake’s overall health and condition, which will contribute to their nationwide report.

(Devils Lake, ND) -- U.S. Senator John Hoeven is talking about inflation and health care in Devils Lake. The North Dakota Republican met with leaders there Wednesday, including new mayor Jim Moe and former Mayor Dick Johnson. North Dakota State Representative Dennis Johnson, Ramsey County commissioners, members of the Chamber of Commerce and representatives from Lake Region State College were also at the meeting.

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. – Ramsey County Sheriff Steve Nelson says authorities were called out about 1:30 p.m. Saturday after a boat capsized on Devils Lake. Nelson says four people believed to be from Minnesota ended up in the lake. The boat turned over and sent the four into the lake.
