Stolen vehicle leads to K-9 search and arrest

According to Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman, Thursday, Oct. 14, around 11 p.m., a white Ford Ranger was stolen from a local farm in the Babbie community. Once the vehicle was discovered missing, the owner notified law enforcement immediately. Through interviews with the farm employees and record checks, a general location of where the vehicle may have been located was determined.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — The former police chief for a town in south-central Alabama faces multiple charges of domestic violence. In a news release Thursday, Attorney General Steve Marshall said former Lockhart Police Chief Franklin Jackson, 50, of Lockhart, surrendered a day earlier at the Covington County Sheriff’s Office. Marshall’s office did not say whether Jackson has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
