Obituaries week of June 29

Mr. Charles Ruben Dean, Sr. passed away June 20 at Hospice Family Care. He was born May 8, 1944, in Morgan County to Charles Hugh Dean and Mary Magdlean Glass Dean. He was employed by Monsanto as a color control specialist prior to his retirement. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and will be missed. Preceding him in death were his wife and his parents. Survivors include sons, Charles “Chuck” Dean, Jr., and Jimmie Dean (Tracy); daughters, Carol Dean and Kim Massey; and numerous grandchildren. No services are scheduled at this time.

Huntsville man arrested after multiple Decatur residents report home repair fraud

A Huntsville man is facing fraud-related charges after being accused of taking money for services he never intended to provide. Decatur Police said multiple Decatur residents reported being victims of home repair fraud in April and May. According to police, the residents hired and paid a licensed contractor to perform work at their homes, but the work was never completed and their money was not returned.

DECATUR, Ala. (WAFF) - A man that has already been arrested multiple times in the past on theft and deception charges has been arrested again by the Decatur Police Department. Johnny Ray Jordan, 61, was arrested in October 2020 after posing as a licensed contractor in Alabama and building decks under the business name, Huntsville Deck Builders.

Loretto Man Arrested for Simple Assault

A LORETTO MAN WAS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND AFTER LAW ENFORCEMENT WAS CALLED TO A RESIDENCE FOR A DISORDERLY SUBJECT. ACCORDING TO REPORTS, THE INCIDENT OCCURRED ON BEARTOWN ROAD ON SATURDAY WHERE THE MALE SUBJECT ALLEGEDLY SHOVED HIS GRANDMOTHER AND THREATENED HER DOG DURING AN ARGUMENT. THE MALE LEFT THE SCENE BEFORE DEPUTIES ARRIVED AND WAS LATER FOUND BY THE SHERIFF ON LITREL ROAD. THE SUBJECT WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LAWRENCE COUNTY JAIL AND FACES SIMPLE ASSAULT CHARGES.

Beyond the Call of Duty makes stop in Sheffield to honor Sgt. Nick Risner

Nonprofit organization Beyond the Call of Duty travels more than 22,000 miles a year for their EOW Ride to Remember. On Tuesday, they stopped in Sheffield. "I was looking at the pictures today, and I was thinking all of these families are going through what I am going through, and it's so sad," Sgt. Nick Risner's mom, Vicki Risner, said.
