Chadbourn Police have charged a Wilkes Street man with fleeing the scene of a car crash that resulted in a man’s death. Warrants show Cory Michael McDougald, 51, of 120 S. Wilkes St., Chadbourn, was arrested June 24 and released the next day on a single charge of fleeing an accident involving death or injury. He was released on a $25,000 secured bond.

An estimated $82 worth of catfish landed a Chadbourn woman with a felony charge last week. According to warrants, on June 18, Samantha Green took one box of catfish from the Fresh Foods IGA store where she worked in Chadbourn. Green was arrested June 23 on the charge of felony larceny by employee, plus two failure to appear warrants. There is no misdemeanor larceny by employee charge in North Carolina.

A felony charge has been taken out against a driver who allegedly hit a pedestrian with his car June 16 in Chadbourn and fled the scene. According to Chadbourn Police, at 6:18 p.m., a vehicle driven by Cory McDougald was going southbound on S. Wilkes Street. After passing by the W. Huffman Street intersection, McDougald’s Chevrolet struck Connell Maurice Faulk, also of Chadbourn. The CPD report says Faulk was in the road in front of his home when he was hit.
