Motorcyclist arrested after crash at Battle Ground cruise-in event

A motorcyclist who drove recklessly through police barricades and crashed into a vehicle during an impromptu cruise-in event in Battle Ground has been arrested. Zachary C. Green, 24, was booked into the Clark County Jail on charges of DUI, reckless driving, failure to obey a police officer and for an existing warrant for malicious mischief.

Big Paddle event returns to Ridgefield

Ridgefield will celebrate both National Trails Day and the 11th annual Big Paddle event at its waterfront and downtown on Saturday, June 4. The event will start with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., which will show off the Ridgefield Dragon Boats, followed by Chicamarimba, an eight-women marimba ensemble, a news release stated. There will then be a guided paddle with Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe at 11:30 a.m., or an open paddle on the water in the afternoon. Riders will float along the banks of Lake River, the release stated.

Prairie High School senior receives $6,500 scholarship from GFWC

Prairie High School senior Ellie Durgarian recently received $6,500 in scholarships from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs. The Battle Ground branch of the club awarded Durgarian with a $1,500 scholarship in early April. Her application was then forwarded to the statewide club, who awarded Durgarian an additional $5,000 scholarship at the organization’s annual convention in Olympia on April 22.
