Benson man leads Redwood area law enforcement on high-speed chase Tuesday

A Benson man led three area law enforcement agencies in a high-speed chase Tuesday evening. At about 10:28 p.m. on June 22, the Renville County Sheriff’s Office reported to the Redwood County Sheriff’s Office that a stolen vehicle was apparently headed toward Redwood County. The vehicle was last observed at the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 2.

Driver of stolen vehicle leads police on high-speed chase in Redwood County

Police say a man is in custody after the driver of a stolen vehicle led officers on a high-speed chase in Redwood County Tuesday evening. At about 8:30 p.m., the Renville County Sheriff’s Office informed Redwood County of a stolen vehicle spotted near Highway 71 and County Rd 2. Redwood deputies began searching the area and eventually located the vehicle at the Oyate C Store near Jackpot Junction.

Diesel lookout: Survey shows some Redwood Falls stations charging $0.05 extra

(REDWOOD FALLS, MN) Your choice of gas station could be costing you as much as $0.05 if you’re buying diesel in Redwood Falls, according to a recent price survey. The survey, which looked at prices across the Redwood Falls area on Tuesday, found that Holiday at 1111 E Bridge Sthad the cheapest advertised diesel, at just $3.09 per gallon. By comparison, the most expensive station in the area was Casey's at 707 E Bridge St, which listed a per-gallon price of $3.14.

Five compete in Fiesta Days Pie Eating contest

This year's Fiesta Days Pie Eating contest saw five participants who braved the challenge of consuming as many cream pies as they could in ten minutes. Participants included City Council member Dan Sanborn, Montevideo Mayor Erich Winter, Terry Lien, Mayor of Boyd, Ben Dolan Montevideo Community Development Director, and Steve Haugen of the Chippewa County Fair Board. Each were challenged to raise as much in sponsorship donations as they could, and Mayor Winter rose to the occasion raising the most from the group with over $1,400 raised. Dolan also was awarded for eating the most pie, finishing in at 4.5 pies.

Benson man arrested after chase in Redwood County

(Redwood Falls MN-) A Benson man is under arrest after a high speed chase that began near Jackpot Junction Casino. At 8 last night the Redwood County Sheriff's office was told a stolen vehicle had been last observed near Highway 71 and County Road 2. Redwood County Deputies began searching the area and located the vehicle at the Oyate Convenience Store near Jackpot Junction Casino. The driver of the vehicle fled from deputies and lead officers on a high speed pursuit. The vehicle was eventually stopped at a residence in Wanda. The driver, identified as Tanner William Jarvis of Benson, was arrested and transported to the Redwood County Jail. Redwood County So was assisted by RWFPD during the pursuit.

Beatrice Bassett, 98

Beatrice Bassett was born on February 21, 1923, in the family home in Currie, Minnesota to John and Blanche Lingen Ward. She grew up in Currie and graduated from Tracy High School. On January 29, 1945, she and Gerald “Jerry” Bassett were married at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Currie. Following their marriage, they made their home with Jerry’s parents for a time before taking over the family farm. Beatrice worked for the DMV in the Tracy, MN office for many years.

This perfect storm is anything but

An otherwise routine task turned into a lot more Friday morning for one Central Crop Consulting employee thanks to the extreme dry conditions in the area. A field fire was reported east of Tracy on Lyon County Road 8 just after 9 a.m. Friday, as dry and windy conditions fueled the fire that contributed to just the frame of an ATV being left after the Tracy Fire Department arrived on scene to take control of the situation.
