Coshocton animal shelter, library hold program

The Coshocton County Animal Shelter and Coshocton Public Library held a community partnership program June 8. The program was held in celebration of the “Tails and Tales” summer reading program. Hayley and Chris Sturtz and the with husky “Wolfie” Blitzer from the Coshocton County Animal Shelter presented an informational program about the services and programs provided by the shelter. They discussed their experiences over the years at the shelter.

Rooster crowing about his freedom in Newcomerstown

NEWCOMERSTOWN — Residents along Cross Street in Newcomerstown have no further need of alarm clocks. A roving, roaming rooster has decided to roost in his room along Cross Street in Newcomerstown, booming out a “Good Morning” to residents every morning. But no one seems to know where “Rooster” came from, where he may be heading or what led him to a relatively quiet street that is usually filled with the sounds of local youths playing baseball and softball less than a block away.

West Holmes FFA members participated in the 2021 Dairy Handlers CDE

On Tuesday, April 20th, two West Holmes FFA members participated in the Dairy Handlers CDE. Member Amy Hughes was 3rd in the state and Wyatt Schlauch was 9th in the state. The Dairy Handlers CDE involves showing an animal to the best of the handler’s ability. This year, members had to make a 15 minute video presentation of them demonstrating their dairy showmanship skills. They were evaluated on their skills on exhibiting the animal and safe animal handling.

Man accused of abandoning 16 dogs agrees to negotiated plea

A Cambridge man accused of abandoning 16 dogs including five that died in deplorable living conditions at a Franklin Avenue home in the city has agreed to a negotiated plea. Gregory Graham Sr., 46, faces six counts of prohibition of companion animals and three counts of abandoning animals. All nine offenses are second-degree misdemeanors filed by the Guernsey County Sheriff's Office.

Nick McWilliams reporting – With the assistance of the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office and K-9 Bruno, a pursuit ended with an arrest on I-77. The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol radioed for assistance on a pursuit that started in Barberton.
