Stuntman who was slated to perform at Salinas airshow dies during act

SALINAS, Calif. — A popular airshow stuntman who was set to perform at the 2022 Salinas International Airshow died during a live performance in Michigan. Chris Darnell, 40, was driving the "Shockwave Jet Truck" while racing two planes during the Field of Flight Airshow in Battle Creek. The truck, capable of reaching speeds of up to 300 MPH, crashed during the maneuver and flipped off the runway. Darnell died at the scene.
