Death investigation underway in Costa Mesa after body found near 55 Freeway

Authorities were investigating a death in the Costa Mesa area Monday, after the body of a man was found behind a dog daycare business early Sunday morning. According to California Highway Patrol officers investigating the incident — since it occurred on state property at the transition road for the 55 and 37 Freeways — the body was found at around 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning by a transient who was searching for recyclables behind Bone Adventure, a dog daycare located on Bristol Street. The body was lying against a fence, and officials estimated that the person had been dead anywhere between nine and 12 days. Officers found no evidence of foul play, trauma or self-inflicted wounds as they investigated the incident. They suspect that the man was also a transient. As the investigation continued, they were working to identify the person and determine a cause of death.

Police have arrested a Southern California woman for allegedly poisoning her husband. Police in the Orange County city of Irvine say a man reported Thursday that he believed he was being poisoned by his wife of 10 years after he grew ill over the course of a month.The man had video evidence he also provided to authorities, police said in a statement. 53-year-old bicyclist critically injured during hit-and-run in La Habra; search continues for driver

Authorities are searching for the driver wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in La Habra that occurred Sunday evening. The crash happened at around 4:40 p.m. on West La Habra Boulevard, when the driver of a white truck struck a 53-year-old bicyclist before fleeing from the scene. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to injuries sustained during the collision. Authorities have identified the suspect vehicle as a white, extended cab Chevrolet Silverado with silver stock rims and a construction rack in the bed of the truck. They believe that the front of the vehicle, particularly the grill, hood and driver's side headlight should have sustained considerable damage. There was no description on the driver available. La Habra Police Department asked anyone with additional information to contact their Traffic Unit at (562) 383-4345.
