Injuries avoided in Warrensburg commercial building fire, sprinkler system credited

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – An automatic sprinkler system is being credited with keeping a fire at bay at a local business yesterday. According to a social media post by the Johnson County Emergency Management Agency, crews from Warrensbug Fire Department were dispatched to a commercial structural fire around 12:12 p.m. in the Rise Community Services warehouse on North Ridgeway Road. The fire was reportedly contained in the east warehouse building, in part to the activation of the automatic fire sprinkler and actions taken by first responders.

Myrle Eugene “Gene” Kemerling, age 89, formerly of Riverside and Waverly, MO, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff. Gene was born on Sep. 6, 1932 to Clay Myrle and Alice Lucille (Hill) Kemerling near Tarkio, MO. He married Grace Marie Ware on March 22, 1952 in Waverly, MO. The couple lived in Waverly until 1988, when they moved to Riverside, MO.
