Incoming SWOSU student receives scholarship

Rylan Belcher of Mountain View, Oklahoma is the 2022-23 recipient of the Mark Mouse Memorial Scholarship at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU). Belcher is a graduate of Mountain View-Gotebo High School and will be a freshman at SWOSU in the fall. He plans to major in Education and pursue a minor in Kinesiology.

Growing up, my grandparents would take me to their hometown of Hobart every summer. They showed me all of their old haunts: the Big-a-Burger, the golf course, the farmhouse where my grandmother grew up. My granddad also took me to the office of the Hobart Democrat-Chief, the town’s only newspaper. It was once owned by his father, then by his brother and today by his nephew.

Shane Thompson, 51, of Cordell, Oklahoma went to his heavenly home on June 5th, 2022. He was born on December 11th, 1970, to J.R. and Arline (Gifford) Thompson in Altus, Oklahoma. Shane attended school in Roosevelt and graduated in 1989. He worked 13 years as a Sales associate for Coke and 16 years for Fri-to-Lay. Shane had three children Kerstin, Jordan, and Chase.
