Carroll Man Arrested After Causing Disturbance In Downtown Jefferson Saturday

A Carroll man face charges in Greene County District Court after causing a disturbance in downtown Jefferson Saturday evening. The Jefferson Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Lincoln Way and Vine Street at approximately 8:40 p.m. in response to a report to the dispatch center of a subject harassing people in the area. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with the individual and identified him as 45-year-old Anthony Lee Kies. Authorities say Kies refused to comply with the officer’s commands, and he was taken into custody. Kies was booked into the Greene County Law Enforcement Center on charges of disorderly conduct and interference with official acts, simple misdemeanors.

Adel man allegedly hits mailbox while texting while drunk driving

An Adel man was arrested for drunk driving Saturday evening and cited for texting while drunk driving after he allegedly struck a mailbox in rural Adel and just kept going. Christopher David Tollari, 55, of 508 N. 14th St., Adel, was charged with second-offense OWI and issued citations for use of electronic communication device while driving, leaving the scene of an accident and striking fixtures upon a highway.

Teen Cited Following Two-Vehicle Collision Friday Evening In Carroll

No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle collision Friday evening in Carroll. Officers with the Carroll Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7:38 p.m. to the scene of the accident at the intersection of Court and 2nd Streets. Their initial investigation determined a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, operated by a 17-year-old male driver from Arcadia, was traveling eastbound on 2nd. At the same time, a 2015 Chrysler 200C, driven by a 16-year-old female from Lidderdale, was traveling southbound on Court and failed to yield to the oncoming vehicle. The Chrysler collided with the driver’s side of the Pontiac, resulting in disabling damage to both cars. The female driver was cited for failure to yield to vehicle on right and driving with a revoked license.

Catherine Zimmer, age 93, of Carroll, died Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Holy Spirit Church – St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Jane Heithoff and Keziah Janssen. Lector will be Bill Eich. Gift Bearers will be Amanda Zimmer and Chris Zimmer. Eucharistic Minister will be Tom Simons. Casket Bearers will be Tom Simons, Stan Kerkhoff, Gerald Hahn, Bill Eich, Pat Renze and Dr. Alicia Olson. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Vail. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.

Perry Economic Development announces new speculative building project

Perry Industries, Inc. and Perry Economic Development, Inc. recently announced the fourth speculative building project in Perry's Industrial Park since the park's inception in 1984. In concert with the leadership of the Iowa Area Development Group, their utility partners Minburn Communications, Guthrie County Rural Electric Cooperative, Central Iowa Power Cooperative and the city of Perry, PED has elected to move forward with the construction of a speculative, 30,0000 sq. ft., 30-foot side-walled, all-steel, industrial, polestyle, insulated, warehouse shell building identical to the building it erected in 2018 (which was sold to local Perry apparel manufacturer TCB Companies in 2020).

Crash slows traffic at First Avenue, Iowa Highway 141 Monday

A crash occurred Monday evening at the intersection of Iowa Highway 141 and Iowa Highway 144 in Perry. No injuries were reported in the incident. It was not immediately apparent at the crash scene how many vehicles were involved. A passenger car sustained serious front-end damage and came to rest in the westbound lanes of the intersection.

Jefferson Woman Sentenced to Probation Following Drug Network Investigation

A Jefferson woman was recently sentenced to probation for her role in a drug network investigation. According to court documents, 39-year-old Tanisha Dillinger pled guilty to an amended charge Class C Felony for intent to deliver methamphetamine under five grams. The original charge was a felony for conspiring to manufacture or possess methamphetamine with intent to deliver. As per a plea agreement, she had a ten year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for three years.

The Ames softball team went 5-3 and the Little Cyclone baseball team finished 3-2 last week. The softball team saw its record go to 17-14 and the baseball team 16-14. The Gilbert baseball team defeated Carlisle and fell to Bondurant-Farrar and Boone in going to 13-8 on the season. The Tiger softball team split with Humboldt and Ames and suffered losses to Bondurant-Farrar, Adel-Desoto-Minburn, Carlisle and Boone in going to 10-14.
