Fire heavily damages downtown Bloomington apartment building

Fire crews in Bloomington spent much of Wednesday battling a blaze that heavily damaged an apartment building just west of downtown. The Bloomington Fire Department (BFD) was called to the three-story brick building at Market and Lee streets around 6:25 a.m. Crews saw fire coming from the roof and thick smoke pouring from the top two floors, said spokesperson Frank Friend.

Bloomington man arrested on gun charges, injuring an officer

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WMBD) — A Bloomington man was arrested on several gun-related charges and resisting arrest Tuesday. According to a Bloomington police press release, police conducted a traffic stop near Wylie Drive and Valley View Circle at approximately 11:50 p.m. During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle and occupants.

Cause unknown in early morning Bloomington fire

BLOOMINGTON – Authorities were called early Wednesday morning near Downtown Bloomington for a fire at the corner of Market and Lee Streets. A building, which was under construction, was on fire and the roof had partially collapsed. Public Information Officer Frank Friend told our news partner HOI ABC the building was vacant.
