Loaded semi-auto rifle in truck brings felony weapons charge | Police reports June 20-26

Riverside police arrested a 34-year-old Munster, Indiana, man who was later charged with felony unlawful use of a weapon after police found a loaded .762-caliber semiautomatic rifle along with a drum magazine for the rifle loaded with 70 rounds and three loaded handgun magazines inside his pickup truck during a routine traffic stop on June 23 at about 3:25 p.m. on Ogden Avenue.

Mobile Food Distribution At Glen Park Academy on July 1

The 6th District Councilman Dwight Williams has formed a partnership between the Northwest Indiana Food Bank and the 6th District. On July 1, 2022, the partnership will host a food distribution in the front parking lot of the Glen Park Elementary School at 5002 Madison St. The event will feed 150 to 160 households, and this is a first come first served community-based event so participants are encouraged to be prompt.
