Man in critical condition, officials investigate if he was hit by or thrown from a car

DEFIANCE COUNTY, Ohio (WTVG) - The Defiance County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a pedestrian accident that left a man in critical condition. According to the Defiance County Sheriff’s Office, they received a complaint from the Bryan Hospital Emergency Department that a man was brought into the hospital by other individuals around 4:00 a.m. on May 14.

Connie H. Stearns, 1955 – 2022

Connie H. Stearns, age 66 of Defiance, peacefully passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022 at The Laurels of Defiance. She was born on November 6, 1955 and was adopted by Raymond and Henrietta (Grodzicki) Arendt in Cook County, Illinois at the age of two. On January 31, 1976 she married Cpl. Robert C. Stearns, USMC, who survives.

Petting zoo brings joy to residents of Lima Convalescent Home. A mobile zoo made its way to a Lima nursing home. Lima Convalescent Home residents and staff were able to come outside and not only enjoy the great weather, but pet some zoo animals as well. The Jungle Island Zoo, a mobile exotic animal petting zoo set up in front of the home where goats, alpacas, and more were available for residents to pet and interact with.

Ohio humane society seizes 22 German Shepherds living in 'deplorable conditions'

LIMA, Ohio — An Ohio humane society is now taking care of 22 German Shepherd dogs after they were seized from property that they described as "deplorable conditions." The Ohio SPCA & Humane Society said as soon as they arrived at the scene, they knew the seizure was necessary. They removed the 22 dogs from the property and took them to the shelter.

Nearly 2 dozen dogs were taken from poor living conditions and are now at the Ohio SPCA shelter in Allen County. An anonymous call on May 4th led authorities to a Lima residence in regard to a large number of dogs that weren’t being cared for. The SPCA found 9 adult German Shepherds and 13 puppies in cages. The owner of the animals was contacted, and they cooperated and did surrender the dogs.
