ALAMOSA, Colo. (KRDO) -- Friday, flags across Colorado were lowered to half-staff to honor an 83-year-old firefighter who died in the line of duty. According to the Governor's Office, Harold Joe Cordova died Sunday, May 1 while battling a fire in Manassa. Firefighters and law enforcement escorted his body from Conejos County back to Alamosa. Conejos County Sheriff’s Office is investigating shots fired at a home

ANTONITO — Conejos County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of shots fired at a home in the 7000 block of County Road 13 the night of April 22. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found a house that had been struck several times by bullets. Bullets were found inside the residence that had passed through an outside wall.

Possible arson in Sanford

SANFORD– Conejos County deputies, Colorado State Patrol troopers and officers from Sanford and Manassa responded to a fire that may have been intentionally set on April 23 in Sanford. Reports stated that a male and female were seen starting a fire in a vacant field near 595 Kalmia Street. A quick response by Sanford, Manassa, Romeo, Antonito and La Jara Fire Departments put the fire out. No structures were damaged in the fire. Approximately five acres burned.
