Alamosa firefighters were on scene of a structure fire about two hours Thursday night just south of town. The call came in at 7:21 p.m. to 9451 South Highway 285, according to AFD Lieutenant Zach Cerny, incident commander. The unoccupied home was declared a total loss the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Cerny said 21 firefighters with five engines were involved in the blaze, with assistance from one unit from the LaJara Fire Department. No injuries were reported.

ALAMOSA— The newest portion of downtown art in Alamosa was unveiled on Wednesday. David Montgomery, Sally Lopez of Papers of Distinction and the City of Alamosa came together to add the mural “Chicos and Capulin” to Centennial Park south of Papers of Distinction on State Street. The mural was funded with a $11,400 Colorado Creative Corps American Rescue Plan Grant.
