Concord Spray Park Reopens

Beat the heat with a splash of fun. Concord's popular spray park has reopened. Summer hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Meadow Homes Spray Park is located at 1351 Detroit Avenue, which is at the northwest corner of Sunshine Drive and Detroit Avenue next to Meadow Homes School.

UPDATED: Cooling Center Open June 18

The heat wave will continue on Friday, so the City will again open its Senior Center (2727 Parkside Cir.) as a cooling center on June 18 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Please take precautions to stay hydrated and refrain from vigorous physical activity during the hottest parts of the day.

Cooling Center Open June 16-17

Temperatures are on the rise, with the hottest day of the week forecast for Thursday when Concord is expected to see a high of 107 degrees!. To help residents stay cool, the City will open the Concord Senior Center, 2727 Parkside Circle, as a Cooling Center on Wednesday, June 16 and Thursday, June 17, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Use Concord Connect App to Report Fireworks

All fireworks (even those labeled “safe and sane”) are illegal in Concord and all of Contra Costa County (except for permitted professional displays). This includes bottle rockets, roman candles, firecrackers and sparklers. Sparklers can reach 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit and account for most fireworks-related injuries to children age 5 and under. Fireworks are dangerous and cause fires, which can result in severe injury and even death, as well as costly property damage.

Concord Raises $114 Million for Roadway Projects

Concord has raised $114 million to pay for citywide capital improvement projects focused on addressing backlogged roadway maintenance and repair needs in the City. The new funding was generated through a tax-exempt debt issuance (borrowing), which was rated AA by S&P Global, meaning the City has a strong credit rating.

May 25 and May 26, 2021 City Council Interviews--Cannabis Storefront Retailers

The City Council meeting Agenda for May 25 and May 26 has been posted to the City’s webpage. At the meeting, Concord’s City Council will interview the six eligible applicants which submitted proposals to operate cannabis storefront retail businesses. Each applicant will make a presentation to the Council and respond to interview questions. Please note that interviews will occur over two meetings. Public comments on the proposals and the final decision will occur on May 26. Up to three applicants will be selected and invited to apply for available City Cannabis Licenses and other required approvals. Both meetings will start at 5:30 p.m.
