Motorcyclist dies in fatal Franklin crash

FRANKLIN, Va. (WRIC) — On Saturday, July 2 at 5:58 a.m., Virginia State Police responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Delaware Road in Franklin. State Police said the crash happened on Rt. 687 north of Holly Cove Street when Roberto Michael Beltrami, 26, was driving a 1997 Yamaha motorcycle southbound on Delaware Road. Beltrami drove up to a curve in the road, crossed the center line and ran off the road. After hiting a ditch, Beltrami was thrown from the motorcycle.

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Nine people, including three motorcyclists, died this past Fourth of July weekend across Virginia, according to Virginia State Police. The nine deadly crashes happened in the cities of Danville, Franklin, Norfolk and Portsmouth and the counties of Chesterfield, Botetourt, King William, Loudoun and Warren. VSP said the motorcycle crashes happened in the cities of Franklin and Portsmouth and Chesterfield County. One person was also killed in an all-terrain vehicle crash in King William County.

FRANKLIN, Va. (WAVY) – Virginia State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash in the City of Franklin that resulted in a fatality. VSP investigators determined a 1997 Yamaha Royal Star was traveling south on Route 687/Delaware Road near Willis Road around 4:45 a.m. on July 2 when it crossed the center line at a curve and ran off the road.

WOODLAND – Brandon Corey Bland, Sr., age 24, of Appletree Street, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 1, 2022 while visiting family in Suffolk, Virginia. Brandon was born on October 2, 1997 to Brian and Alisa Bland in Roanoke Rapids, NC. He worked as a construction worker under his father. He deeply enjoyed hunting, fishing, and marksmanship with his brother, along with riding four wheelers and dirt bikes. Brandon loved his family, especially his son “Quarter Pint” and enjoyed spending time with them. He is gone way too soon and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
