Newbie Man Injured in Motorcycle Crash on Route 36

BARNETT TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A New Bethlehem man was injured in a motorcycle crash that occurred last Thursday on State Route 36, in Barnett Township. According to Marienville-based State Police, the crash occurred around 7:12 p.m., on Thursday, June 23, as a 1998 Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy operated by 43-year-old Robert A. Shaffer Bridge closing for repairs

A traffic detour is to start next week as work begins to rehabilitate the Shaffer covered bridge in Conemaugh Township. The Somerset County Commissioners announced Tuesday that the bridge would be closed to traffic from July 5 until work on the bridge is completed, which is scheduled to take 30 days to 60 days. Thornbury, Inc., of West Sunbury, is the contractor. A traffic detour is to be posted in the area while the work is in progress.

Four young PA men charged in robbery at Ocean City motel

Three men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested in Ocean City last weekend after allegedly robbing and assaulting a man in a motel room downtown. Jelyja Joseph Malcom, 18, D’andre Xavier Sampson, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile, all of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and Jaden Shawn Mallery, 18, of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania were arrested by Ocean City Police on June 25 near 20th Street and charged with robbery, assault, theft, and reckless endangerment.


Indiana Borough Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that happened on Tuesday. Police say that the accident happened in the 300 block of Church Street at 3:24 PM. A legally parked and unoccupied vehicle was parked in a parking lot of 398 Church Street and was hit by a black-in-color pickup truck. The parked vehicle took on light damage. The offending vehicle will likely have damage to the rear bumper and/or tailgate.

Amanda Jane (Ritchey) Pearce, 40 of of Punxsutawney, PA. , formerly of Cambridge. Amanda Jane (Ritchey) Pearce, 40 of Punxsutawney, formerly of Cambridge Ohio, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at her home in Punxsutawney. Amanda was born July 7, 1981 in Cambridge, Ohio to Richard Dugan and Pamela Ritchey who survive. Amanda graduated in 1998 from Cambridge High School in Ohio where she played clarinet in the marching band. She moved to Punxsutawney with her husband Matt in 2006. She was very excited to be in the process of moving back to her home town of Cambridge Ohio. Amanda enjoyed life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed Star Wars, and her Baby Yoda collection. She loved Baby Yoda! Amanda liked attending yard sales, flea markets, Thrift stores, anywhere she could find a good deal. Most of all Amanda loved her family. She adored her two daughters and would spend countless hours creating memories with them whenever she could. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Matt Pearce, Punxsutawney, two daughters, Christina J. Pearce, Kayla E. Pearce, both of Punxsutawney, two sisters, Jessica M. Ritchey, OH, Stephanie L. Dickerson and husband James, OH, a brother, David H. Knight and wife Brittney, OH, sister-in-law Valerie J. Powell and husband Chris, OH, two brother-in-law’s, John M. Pearce, OH, Michael L. Pearce and wife Brittany, OK, a bonus sister Audi Guignet, Punxsutawney, two bonus daughters, Hailey Wilson and Sophia Guignet, Punxsutawney, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law Joseph and Lois Pearce, a brother-in-law Timothy Pearce and a nephew Nehemiah Dickerson. Calling hours will be from 12:00 to 2:00 on Saturday July 2, 2022 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home with funeral services to follow at 2:00 at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Harper officiating. Burial will be in Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Valerie Powell at 5901 Palmer Road, Millersport, Ohio, for future expenses of her daughters and funeral expenses.

Four Charged In Late-Night Strong Armed Robbery Over Weekend

OCEAN CITY — Three Pennsylvania men and a juvenile were arrested last weekend for an alleged strong-armed robbery in the downtown area. Around 3:45 a.m. on Saturday, Ocean City Police Department (OCPD) officers responded to the area of 20th Street and Philadelphia Avenue for a reported strong-armed robbery. Officers met with a 25-year-old victim from Baltimore, who informed police he had been assaulted by three males who had stolen some of his personal property, according to police reports.
