Information has been released about an arrest of a man who broke into a home with a knife in rural Roodhouse last week. According to charging documents, 30 year old John J. Scheferkort entered a residence with the homeowners present at the time last Wednesday evening. The home is approximately 4 ½ miles east of Roodhouse.

EDWARDSVILLE - An Alton man was charged Thursday with robbery and aggravated battery by the Madison County State's Attorney's Office. Jerome A. Clark, 18, of Alton, was charged June 30 with robbery, a Class 2 felony; and aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony.

Former Greene County Kroger Locations Converting Into Dollar Generals

What’s old is new again in Greene County. Two locations that formerly housed Kroger grocery stores are getting a face lift. The White Hall and Carrollton Kroger locations closed last Spring. With the closing of the stores and the loss of Triple J Meats in Roodhouse; there is just two grocery stores in the county – Market on Main in Carrollton which opened in November, and Meehan’s IGA in Greenfield.

Man Faces Murder Charges for Beheading Pregnant Woman, Causing Unborn Child to Die

A man was arrested in Litchfield and charged with murder for allegedly beheading a pregnant woman who would have given birth to her first baby this July. Deundrea Holloway was accused of beheading Liese Dodd, 22, also causing her unborn child to die. Her head was found inside a rubbish bin outside her apartment, according to court documents obtained by the St Louis Post-Dispatch. The two are said to have an on-and-off dating relationship, but it was unclear if Holloway is the father of Dodd's child.

Design unveiled for Godfrey fire station

GODFREY — Artist renderings have been revealed for the planned $6.5 million Godfrey fire station and administrative building. The new 15,000-square-foot facility at 3023 Godfrey Road will replace the district’s two existing fire stations which lack adequate space for modern fire and emergency service vehicles and equipment.
