Prep baseball: Colusa advances in D-IV, improves to 29-0

Through one round of the Northern Section prep baseball playoffs, the Colusa High baseball team is one of two No. 1 seeds left in the winner’s bracket. The RedHawks took care of No. 8 Paradise, 10-0 in six innings to improve to 29-0 on the season and advance into Tuesday’s Division IV semifinal against No. 4 Willows. Ethan Lay started on the hill and got Colusa’s first postseason win in three years. Lay pitched four innings of no-hit baseball with 10 strikeouts. Sophomore Luke Kalfsbeek relieved Lay and struck out five Bobcats over two innings to close out the quarterfinals.

Micheal Alan Hartill

On May 4, 2022, Micheal Alan Hartill (Mike), loving husband, father of three and grandfather of five, passed away at the age of 64. Mike was born to David Hartill and Dorcas Belles (nee Lawrence) on March 31, 1958, in Garden Grove, California. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Oregon in 1977 where he later married Janet Lorraine Puncochar They had three children.
