Are you ready for some pancakes?

The annual breakfast served from 7 to 11 a.m. at Fireman’s Park next to the Laurel Chamber of Commerce on Main Street has been going on for decades, and is a traditional part of the July 4 festivities. Repairs to begin on Fred Graff School

The Laurel School Board on Monday unanimously approved making emergency repairs to Fred Graff Elementary. Repairs are projected to run between $50,000 and $80,000, and trustees voted to spend up to $80,000 to fix the foundation and floors in the affected areas. Facilities director Wayne Fjare told trustees during the meeting that most of the work can be done by district employees, keeping costs down. He said the project would provide stability to the foundation for three to five years. At that point, the district will need to decide how to proceed with one option being building a new school.
