Opelika man dies in Tuskegee crash

TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WTVM) - An Opelika man has died following a crash in Tuskegee. The accident happened Saturday evening on Highway 80 near Chappie James Drive. According to Macon County Deputy Coroner Raymond Echols, the Tuskegee Police Department was responding to a separate accident when 43-year-old Derrick Moore’s vehicle came along and struck a vehicle from the previous wreck.

Charges Against DA From Video to Be Dismissed After Mistrial

COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) — One set of criminal charges against a Georgia district attorney is being dismissed, although he still faces more serious charges. A mistrial was declared last week in Mark Jones' trial on charges of first-degree criminal damage to government property and interfering with government property after the judge found witnesses were improperly watching video of the trial before testifying.

Columbus Police release name of teen killing in shooting on Joyner Road

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) – The Columbus Police Department has released the name of a teenager killed in a shooting on Joyner Drive on Monday. According to officials, police were called out to the 6200 block of Joyner Drive at 4:52 p.m. on Sept. 20, 2021, following reports of a shooting. When they arrived on scene, they found Kaleb Morning, age 16, who had been shot.

Attempt to Identify Hit & Run Suspect

On 09/18/2021 at approximately 3:50 PM Officers with the Opelika Police Department responded to a Leaving the Scene of an Accident Complaint at Target, located at 2640 Enterprise Drive. Upon arrival, officers located a mother with her child who had received minor injuries after being partially struck by a motor vehicle. Security footage shows the suspect driving a gray, newer model GMC Terrain. The vehicle turned quickly in the direction of the mother and child, stopped briefly, before driving off at a high rate of speed. The mother described the suspect as a white female, approximately 30 to 40 yoa, with dark hair and blonde highlights.
