According to the sheriff's office, the scammer calls and identifies himself as a deputy, even spoofing the sheriff's office's phone number and using the name of an actual deputy. The caller will claim you have an outstanding warrant and you can avoid arrest if you provide funds through a website via a cashiers check, Money Pac gift card or Green Dot debit card. The sheriff's office says the scammer is aggressive and threatening.
