Brush fire in the Cajon Pass slows traffic, spurs lane closures

Firefighters Sunday were battling a brush fire in the Cajon Pass. The fire started around 12:05 p.m. on the right-hand side of the thoroughfare and was impacting traffic. According to authorities, the fire was moving up hillside, and has spurred the closure of the far right lane. Several other lanes have since been closed. Vehicles were being slowed in the area as a result.  The blaze, deemed the Wagon Train Fire, was being fought by San Bernardino County Fire crews as well as Cal Fire San Bernardino. The forward rate of speed was stopped Sunday afternoon at 15 acres. No injuries have been reported in the fire. The cause is still under investigation.

2 hurt following crash involving Chino Hills patrol car

Authorities say a Chino Hills patrol unit was involved in a crash on Soquel Canyon Parkway.The crash unfolded just after 2:20 a.m. Sunday. It was then that the patrol car and a 2007 Saturn Ion collided. Two individuals inside the Saturn were injured. Both were transported to a hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.

(HIGHLAND, Calif.) — Nine people were shot, including one fatally, during a party in Southern California late Friday night, police said. Police officers responded to a shooting at a business in the city of Highland, east of Los Angeles, shortly before midnight Friday, the San Bernardino Police Department said. Witnesses who called 911 told dispatchers that multiple people had been shot, according to police.

Arrest in 2020 Shooting Death Near Southern California Park

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — A 50-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a man near a Southern California park in 2020, authorities said. Cedric Omarr Dempsey, 32, was found with a gunshot wound to the head behind Bordwell Park in Riverside on Dec. 22, 2020, police said.
