Colorado Police Officer Arrested On Assault Charges For Violently Arresting Black Man Resigns

According to Newsweek, Police Officer John Haubert has resigned from his position with the Aurora Police Department as of Thursday. Haubert had been arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and felony menacing charges for allegedly beating Kyle Vinson, a biracial man who identifies as Black. Another officer is accused of not intervening to try to stop him, the Associated Press reports.

Tow Truck Driver Hit, Killed On I-25 SB Near Castle Pines Parkway

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (CBS4) – A tow truck worker was hit and killed by a driver on Thursday night along Interstate 25 in Castle Rock. Colorado State Patrol responded to the crash around 9:12 p.m. in the southbound lanes just before the Castle Pines Parkway exit. (credit: CBS) Troopers say the tow truck driver was hit on the side of the road, possibly while assisting or towing a vehicle. The driver who hit the man stayed at the scene, according to CSP. (credit: CBS) Three lanes of southbound traffic are closed while CSP investigates the crash. Investigators have not said if the driver will face charges.

1 killed, children seriously injured following a crash northeast of Colorado Springs

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - A woman was killed and two kids had “critical” injuries following a crash on Thursday northeast of Colorado Springs on Thursday. According to Colorado State Patrol, the crash was reported just after 1 in the afternoon near Burgess Road and Vollmer Road in the Black Forest area. Colorado State Patrol told 11 News on scene an adult woman was killed, two kids had very serious injuries and an adult male was last listed in “stable condition.”
