Doris Beken Albright, age 96, passed away into eternal rest Sunday, June 13, 2021. She gave everything she could to her earthly life. She was born on October 17, 1924, as the only child of Paul Dietrich and Lydia Klockmann Beken. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Melvin H. Albright. She was the last surviving member of the Weimar High School class of 1941 and the last grandchild of J. F. Beken (her grandfather).

“We are looking forward to hosting our local rice producers and industry stakeholders in person for this year’s Eagle Lake Rice Field Day,” said Laramie Kettler, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agent for Colorado County. “Our local Colorado County Rice Committee is eager to host this event this year despite a complete indoor program. This year’s format will be no different than it would be if we were rained out and not able to listen to the research scientists in the plots at the Eagle Lake Rice Research Station.”

Man fires crossbow at vehicle on I-10, arrested for deadly conduct

FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas — A road-rage incident on Interstate 10 led to a man firing a crossbow at the vehicle behind him. In a press release, Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that around 2:39 p.m. on Friday, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a victim reporting a road rage incident. The victim alleged that the suspect driver opened his back glass in his truck and discharged a pistol crossbow bolt at the victim’s front windshield, fracturing the glass.
